Broken, Yet Holding On...

Recently my friend and her boyfriend of one year broke up. She is letting me tell her story as long as I don't mention her name. My friend and her boyfriend had been together for a year, she took things slow talked and was friends with him for a long time before dating. Sadly he ended the relationship through a message telling her he never loved her or cared about her. She then later found out half way through their relationship he had been cheating on her. Things like this happen in many relationships, in high school or in marriages. She was not crying when she told me this but instead was being strong. When she was telling me this she kept repeating this " I feel so broken but yet I'm holding on to him." I told her of a song I listened to when my relationship ended. She listened to it and tears formed and she softly said " This is how I feel right now." She asked me for advice how to deal with this and how can she trust another person again. I just told her I know how it feels like to trust someone and have them destroy that by going behind your back and cheat on you. I told her the best thing to do is to be strong and remember everything happens for a reason. I know she is angry, hurt, sad, broken but holding on, and denying everything that happened just wishing it was just a dream. The way I dealt with it was by talking to someone and remembering that not all guys are the same. I told her being able to trust someone again after being cheated on will be hard but it is possible. There will be a guy who will come into your life and not make you worry about it. You will trust him and not have any doubt in your relationship. A man will respect you and take care of your heart and boy will just take it and play with it. I am not saying only boys cheat because trust me I know a couple guys who were cheated on. I tell them something different, that a girl like that is not worth anything. A girl who cheats on her boyfriend in my eyes is worst, especially when I see the girl who cheated on my friend on Facebook saying "why can I not get any good guys who will stay faithful to me?" When I read something like that when they cheated on one of my friends I feel like commenting because you aren't faithful in a relationship but I don't. Cheating is a big thing that happens in many relationships. I don't have an answer on why it happens but I do know all of us can make it through it when it happens. Boy or Girl no matter what it can happen to you. If you are a girl who has cheated on a boyfriend and then later on wonder why you can't have a good relationship remember that boy who was so good to you but you threw it all away. If you are a boy who had cheated on a girlfriend remember that she will not be the same after that, she will have a hard time trusting other guys and feel like that all guys are the same. My only piece advice for all of you who have been cheated on because I have been cheated on before too, is just don't give up because if you do you will miss out on meeting a great person who can make you forget everything that has happened.
